Eὐριπίδης ὁ ποιητὴς ὁ ποιητὴς m : ὁ τραγωιδὸς m : ὁ τῶν τραγωιδιῶν ποιητὴς m ἐπεὶ ὀψωνοῦντος αὐτοῦ ἐπελάβετό τις λέγων ὅτι Σοφοκλῆς τοῦτο διὰ δούλου ποιεῖ ἔφη “τοιγαροῦν ἔφη τοιγαροῦν m : τοιγαροῦν ἔφη m : εἶπε τοιγαροῦν m : ἔφη om. m Σοφοκλῆς ἐσθίει ὄψον ὁποῖον τῶι οἰκέτηι αὐτοῦ ἀρέσκει ὁποῖον … ἀρέσκει m : ὁποῖον ἂν … ἀρέσηι m, ἐγὼ δὲ ὁποῖον ἂν ἐμοί.”

Euripides the poet, when someone had a go at him while he was buying food, saying that Sophocles used a slave to do this, said, ‘In that case, Sophocles eats the food which pleases his slave, but I eat the food which pleases me.’
