μάλιστα δὲ πάντων Ὁμήρωι προσεῖχεν (Menedemus)· εἶτα καὶ τοῖς μελικοῖς· ἔπειτα Σοφοκλεῖ, καὶ δὴ καὶ Ἀχαιῶι T 6 Radt., ὧιπερ καὶ τὸ δευτερεῖον ἐν τοῖς Σατύροις, Αἰσχύλωι δὲ τὸ πρωτεῖον ἀπεδίδου.
(Menedemus) applied himself first and foremost to the study of Homer; then to that of the melic poets; then to Sophocles and also to Achaeus, to whom he assigned second place as a composer of satyr plays; to Aeschylus the first.
