οὐ γάρ, ὡς τὸν Αἰσχύλον ὁ Καλλισθένης (FGrHist 124 F 46) ἔφη που λέγων τὰς τραγωιδίας ἐν οἴνωι γράφειν ἐξορμῶντα καὶ ἀναθερμαίνοντα τὴν ψυχήν, οὐχ οὕτως ὁ Δημοσθένης συνετίθει πρὸς μέθην τοὺς λόγους, ἀλλ’ ὕδωρ πίνων.

For, unlike Aeschylus, who, as Kallisthenes said somewhere, wrote his tragedies whilst drinking, thus exciting and firing up his soul, Demosthenes did not compose his speeches in his cups, but whilst drinking water.
